After 3 months of breaking up with running, we’re BACK together again!

If you didn’t know, running has been a huge part of my everyday life for many years. However, I found myself in a weird place last winter/spring. I ended up getting injured in my build up for the Boston Marathon last spring, and had to pull out of the race about 7 weeks before race day.

After taking about 4 weeks off to heal up my knee, I slowly added back in running. I continued with running 4/5 days a week, plus lifting a few days a week for a bit. Then we went to St. Lucia in June. I didn’t pack my running shoes with me (I had no more room in my suitcase 😂) So I didn’t run. We got back from our trip, and I honestly didn’t feel like running. So I didn’t run.

I think a healthy relationship with exercise means you don’t force yourself to do something out of obligation or because you HAVE to do it . So I took running off the table for the first time in forever. Even after marathons and injuries, I had never taken that long off of running! But I didn’t feel like it, so I didn’t do it! In fact, I didn’t do any cardio at all. I swapped Saylor and I’s morning runs for morning walks, and I lifted heavy 4 days a week. That’s it.

Then the temperatures started to drop. Fall is my FAVORITE time to run!!! I noticed I was starting to miss it!!! So…. I slowly started to add it back in! I’ve been back to running for a few weeks now, and just ended this week with 18 miles/4 runs. My excitement and love for running is back ❤️ I feel like how I used to about running, and it feels so good!

’ll wrap up this very long ramble with just a remind that it’s okay to take time away from things that aren’t serving you or making you happy anymore. It’s okay to change! It’s okay to not do things the way you’ve always done them! Give yourself permission to do that!

If you made it to the end of this,

You’re the real MVP 😜 Have a great day y’all ❤️
