The Last Boston Update…

I’m not running the Boston Marathon in 6 weeks…. I’ve had a few people reach out and ask what I’m doing, but I just hadn’t felt like confirming what I already knew.

Honestly I’ve known it for a couple weeks, but I finally canceled my hotel and all last week. I should be running an 18/20 miler this weekend…. Instead I’m celebrating the fact that I ran 7 miles yesterday morning without any knee pain. It would be absolutely stupid to attempt to jump back into training, or just run Boston in 6 weeks without the correct training. I would probably end up with worse than just a runners knee problem if so. I would rather be able to run a few shorter runs a couple times a week, versus force my body into this training and then be out for months afterwards. It’s just not worth it to me. I’ve got a local half on the calendar in the beginning of April that I’m still hoping to be able to run with my mom. It was supposed to be my last training run of my marathon cycle, but if I can run 13.1 easy miles without pain….. I’ll call that a win 🙌🏼

My run yesterday…. celebrating that I can run 7 miles without pain!

Even taking the injury out of the picture, I’m dealing with some other “stressors” in other areas of my life right now as well. As much as I love running, I know marathon training is a major stress on my body…. to add that to everything else going on wouldn’t be wise of me. So I’m focusing on what I can do right now, and know that Boston will always be there in the future. I qualified once, I can do it again if I want to. God has honestly given me such a peace in my spirit knowing that this is not my season. So even as I’m so bummed, he’s given me confirmation again and again.

So there’s the update! No Boston, no spring marathon….. instead I’ve switched my focus on my lifts as the priority over running, and but hopefully still continuing a few runs a week! If you made it to the end of this very long ramble…. Thanks y’all ❤️
